Therapeutic Actions:

• Astringent
• Hemostatic
• Sedative

Clinical Indications:

• Diarrhea caused by gastroenteritis
• Leukorrhea
• Menorrhagia, metrorrhagia - useful in the luteal phase of the cycle
• Menstrual headache

Contraindications:

• None known

Drug/Nutrient Interaction:

• Antagonizes pitocin

Chemical Constituents:

• Salicylic acid
• Tannins - 6-8%, consisting mainly of glycosides of ellagic acid

Toxicity:

• No known toxicity
